Have a look at what we got up to in Epping Forest!
The Gruffalo left us some pictures of himself to find in the forest. We collected forest objects likes sticks, logs and acorns and used them to build a house for the Gruffalo. During our time there, we made bark art, played forest games and even had time for a story.
Everyone had fun and enjoyed taking risks!
For our topic ‘Into the Forest,’ we visited Epping Forest. We collected objects and sorted them based on their features. We also did some forest art and played forest games.
Year One had a visit from an art specialist called Judy Graham. She taught us how we can use different shapes to make beautiful pieces of art.
We worked together to cover pieces of paper with different sized triangles, squares, rectangles and circles.
After that we looked at some brilliant Indian fabrics. We chose our favourite patterns and drew them ourselves.
In the afternoon we went into the hall and worked together to create an enormous piece of art.
Come and see our work for yourself on our super display outside the hall.
We had a very busy half term in Year One. Here are some pictures of a few of the things we have been doing.
In art we learnt about Monet. We looked at his artwork and thought about how it made us feel. Then we made our own Monet inspired pieces of art.
We loved learning the story of the Three Little Pigs. We made up our own versions of the story by changing the characters and the setting.
In PE we did some gymnastics. The children did some fantastic jumping, climbing and balancing.
We learnt about capacity in maths. We followed instructions to make magic potions. We had to measure the ingredients out very carefully.
