Scholastic Poetry Competition

To celebrate the Scholastic Book Fair coming to Seven Mills this past week the school library ran an Autumn-themed poetry and book competition across the school. Key Stage One classes either drew their favourite book character or wrote an animal shape poem whilst Key Stage Two classes had free rein to write any kind of poem they liked on Autumn.

Now Seven Mills is always enthusiastic when it comes to entering in competitions but this time it really blew my socks off – over 80 entries across the school! I had a lovely time reading all the entries and choosing 5 winners for the Scholastic Book Fair tokens was exceptionally difficult. However, after careful consultation with class teachers 5 deserving winners were finally picked, one from Year 1, one from Year 2, one from Year 5 and two from Year 6.

A very well done to all the winners and a round of applause to everyone who entered. I had a huge smile on my face reading them all and it was genuinely exceptionally hard to pick just five to give the tokens too. I’m hoping to get a big display together soon of all the entries because they truly deserve to be seen by all the school – watch this space!

I hope you all had a lovely time at the Book Fair and I’m looking forward to hearing all about the new books you’ve been reading!
